The Si version of the Civic Coupe looks fast even when it’s standing still. The engine is a 2.0-litre twin-cam four cylinder with a full 197 hp thanks to variable valve timing. The overall shape is a tidy package, part of Civic’s “one motion” styling philosophy. The Civic has been Canada’s top selling compact for more than a decade and part of that is due to the Si. Honda knows a thing or two about high performance racing engines and much of what has been learned has found its way into the Si Coupe. This engine loves to be revved and sings out a soprano note with each up or downshift of the lightning six-speed gear change – another reason why the Si is such a joy to drive. $25,880.
